Registered Psychologist, Calgary ABTrauma Therapy in Calgary, at a Pace That Feels Safe
Available in-person in Calgary SW and virtually across Alberta.
Trauma is not just what happened to you. It is what your body and mind learned in order to survive it. Our trauma therapy in Calgary offers gentle, trauma informed care that helps you process the past without becoming overwhelmed by it.
Understanding trauma
Trauma lives in the body, not just the memory
Trauma can follow a single overwhelming event, or it can build quietly over years of stress, neglect, or relationships that did not feel safe. However it began, it can leave you feeling on guard, numb, disconnected, or easily flooded by emotions that seem bigger than the moment. These are not signs of weakness. They are the nervous system doing exactly what it learned to do to protect you.
Trauma therapy helps your system learn that the danger has passed. Working from attachment based and trauma informed perspectives, Chloe moves gently and never forces you to relive more than you are ready for. Safety and pacing come first, always.
You do not have to tell the whole story to begin healing from it.

What to expect
Gentle, paced, and always in your control
We begin by building safety and steadiness before we ever approach the harder material. That means learning to notice and settle your nervous system, understanding your triggers, and knowing you can slow down or pause at any point. Nothing happens without your say so.
From there, we work with the roots of the trauma using approaches such as attachment based therapy, emotion focused therapy, and mindfulness based tools. The goal is not to erase the past but to take away its power over your present, so you can feel more grounded, more connected, and more like yourself. Sessions are available in person in Calgary and virtually across Alberta.
Our approach
How we approach trauma treatment
Good trauma treatment does not rush you back into the worst moments. It builds safety first, then works with how the trauma shows up in your life now.
Chloe draws on trauma informed, evidence based approaches and adapts them to you. That can include somatic work to settle the nervous system, cognitive and mindfulness based tools for difficult thoughts, and gentle processing at a pace your body can handle. Our trauma counselling always keeps you in control of what you share and when.
The goal is not to erase the past. It is to take away its grip, so you feel more grounded, more present, and more like yourself.

Common questions
Trauma therapy: FAQ
Will I have to talk about the trauma in detail?
Not until you are ready, and never more than feels safe. A great deal of effective trauma work focuses on building stability and working with how trauma shows up now, rather than reliving every detail of the past.
How long does trauma therapy take?
It varies widely depending on your history and goals. Trauma work is usually a longer, gentler process than short term concerns, and we move at the pace your nervous system can handle. We check in regularly on how it is going.
Is trauma therapy covered by insurance in Alberta?
Yes. Sessions are with a Registered Psychologist and are covered by most Alberta extended health plans. We provide receipts, and no referral is required.
