What Is Narrative Therapy?

Narrative therapy is built on a compassionate and radical idea: you are not the problem, the problem is the problem. It sees the stories we tell about ourselves as powerful, and sometimes limiting, and it helps you step back, examine those stories, and author new ones that fit who you really are.

Separating you from the problem

When we are struggling, it is easy to absorb a problem into our identity, to move from I feel anxious to I am an anxious person. Narrative therapy gently separates the two. By externalising the problem, you can look at it more clearly, notice its influence, and reclaim the parts of your story it has overshadowed.

Rewriting the story

Together you look for the moments that do not fit the problem saturated story, the times you showed strength, resisted, or lived by your values. These become the threads of a richer, truer narrative about who you are and what you want.

What to expect

This is collaborative, curious, and respectful work that honours you as the expert on your own life. If you feel defined by a label or a hard chapter, a free consultation is a good place to start rewriting.
