What Is Somatic Therapy?

Somatic therapy works with the connection between mind and body. It is based on a growing understanding that stress and trauma are not only stored as memories, but also held in the body, in muscle tension, breath, posture, and the nervous system. By tuning into the body, we open another doorway to healing.

Why the body matters

You may have noticed that anxiety is not just a thought, it is a tight chest and a racing heart, and that grief can feel like a physical weight. Somatic approaches take these signals seriously. Rather than talking only about experiences, they help you notice and work with what you feel in your body, which can be especially helpful when words fall short.

What it can help with

Somatic tools support trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, and emotional overwhelm. They are often woven together with talk based therapy to help settle the nervous system and build a felt sense of safety.

What to expect

Chloe integrates gentle body aware and mindfulness based tools alongside talk therapy, always at a pace that feels safe and within your control. If your stress lives in your body as much as your mind, a free consultation is a grounded place to begin.
